.5D(served) each push #eg Wetland

On 25 Oct in Kranji wetland (after basketball training), for no apparent reason boy pushed meimei from behind.

Boy tried “downplay”, saying the push didn’t matter. I asked meimei “Did it matter to you?” and she said getting pushed was a nasty experience. After lengthy discussions, boy proposed[1] that each push like this would entail a 0.5D smartphone confiscation.

[1] I feel it’s very important to get boy to accept responsibility and accept his mistake. Some rules are unfair so as a student or a prisoner you learn to accept the injustice. Other rules are fair, so the quicker and more complete you understand and accept it, then earlier you can improve and get out of the bad situation.

— Note this penalty is for violence, more than aggressive behavior. This offense is among the most serious offenses.
When there is a fall like on 23 Oct, the penalty was 7D. When there’s injury, penalty may increase to 1M or “much longer” like a year, as a Cigna counsellor suggested.

No whiplash no fall no injury on 25 Oct, as I saw it up close.

Note in most cases, an unanounced push from behind will not injure anyone, but that’s because the victim is not in an unstable position. If the same push happens 10 times, perhaps once or twice there will be a fall.

When there’s a loss of balance, anything can happen. The chance of injury is unpredictible. We can’t assume luck will be on our side every time.

— For repeated offenses, penalty ought to increase.
— logistics of half-day
We will try to combine multiple half-day sentences, from various offenses. If there’s a “stub” sentence like 0.5 in 3.5, then we (mom, dad, boy) will decide based on the then circumstances.

We also agreed to combine the 7D sentence and various other penalties into one continuous sentence. Exactly when to start it is subject to discussion.

acts@violence: whiplash: 1M served

Similar to covid19 offenders, Second offense deserves higher penalty than first penalty (often a serious warning), because the offender is now fully aware of the consequences.

I didn’t really witness the whiplash with 100% confidence… perhaps 30% confidence.

  • Penalty 1: 1M handphone penalty, starting 13 Oct, when I brought the iPhone8 to office.

— boy’s 4 points

  1. boy felt he should have a say when to serve the sentence.
  2. boy felt “at least 1w” was misleading. I could say “1 week to 10 years”
  3. (not a necessary requirement) when teacher needs to set up whatsapp, daddy should release the phone
  4. boy felt in sec1, parents should not / need not control smartphones
  5. —-
  6. boy requested to use the A95 for gaming.
  7. boy requested a better iPad. I feel this is too portable and hard to control at this young age.

5D(served)acts@violence: 推倒 meimei

— on 23 Oct (final presidential debate), boy pushed meimei to the ground…. 7D penalty, somehow reduced to 5D.
Boy insisted that meimei slipped and fell. I see a weak defense.

  • If you never pushed a pregnant woman but she falls and suffers a miscarriage, then it’s her own problem.
  • If you were only jogging on a busy street, and she suddenly cut into your way and you could not avoid running into her, then you were not intentional and probably innocent
  • If you do push her just a little bit and she falls and suffers a miscarriage, then you had intention to push her and therefore 100% responsible.

Hard to find a short title for this bpost, but I will try anyway. If I keep trying I’m sure I can find a better way to manage this title:)

Excluded (for better focus) from the table: minor lies. Grandpa pointed out 他善良随和,没有和父母作对, refusing to communicate or cooperate.

David of Cigna said his most important focus is the communication channel. He as a father invests hugely to keep the channel open.

to boy: safe-keeping of key

[1] See also fine for lost items

biggest risk — losing our main key outside our home. When the key is missing we usually don’t know where it’s misplaced.

— guideline: do not take other people’s keys unless in an emergency. If you do, be responsible and return it to the owner as soon as possible.

— guideline: either keep your key with you, or keep it always at a permanent location at home, never leave it some shared space like on some table. 100 times you break this guideline, 5 times it would be misplaced.

This guideline applies to MRT card and wallet as well, but is more important for keys.

  • penalty: If caught violating this guideline, the penalty will be .. monetary fines. See [1].
  • penalty for “loss” i.e. not found within 48 hours .. monetary fines. See [1].
  • .. First ever key loss .. already received penalty. See [1]

— risk of lock-out?
