Re: 5 days more in homestead?

Hi Sidd,

Thanks for your help. You asked about our house-search effort? Looking
for accommodation is my #1 task after work, and takes up 1 to 2 hours
a day on average.

We have spent a few days reading hundreds of online posts on 4 web
sites, asking colleagues and neighbours, sending and replying dozens
of emails, calling dozens of numbers and taking lots and lots of notes
to avoid calling the same place twice! My observations below are only
one person's observations and by all means comprehensive, but I'll
share with you.

* 3 colleagues seem to agree that I have to rely on a “128BC” shuttle
between Waltham Center and office. Without it I *probably* need to
walk 45 to 60 minutes one way. Consequently I have focused on Waltham
Center area.
* Most Waltham apartments are far more than 20 minutes walk from Waltham Center.
* Most places (anywhere) are available only after Apr.
* Most places (anywhere) don't perfer tenants moving out in a couple
of months, which is necessary if Verizon relocates.
* Most places we asked prefer single tenants (many college students
here), whereas couples have to take up entire apartments, usually over
$1200/month.
* About half the places are unfurnished. No idea how to handle
furniture when we move after x months.
* I feel even if i'm willing to pay $1000/month, there are very few
suitable places.
* Looks like most hotels are in the same type of remote location like
Homestead. This location leaves my wife a rather restricted and boring
existence.

Sorry for describing 8 challenges and zero solution. I will come up
with some suggestions.

I believe many Polaris associates work in remote locations. Everyone drives?

Forgive my rambling, which help me get a clearer picture of a complex
situation. You can decide which part of this long email to forward.

Victor
