CustSvc/counseling by chat/email #airline

Background: increasingly, (public/private) service providers are turning to chatbot + human agents instead of call center.

I think chat is more efficient for service providers. One agent can multi-task to some extent. Compared to callers, many chat users are more used to waiting. They can wait for a few minutes esp. in the beginning.

— 👍 chat app can show how many people ahead of me
— 👍 clarity of articulation … compared to speaking, my problem description is always more precise, more concise in writing. It helps the other side understand my problem faster. It also helps myself understand my problem. Articulation is key to problem-identification.

In general, am good at expressing myself in writing, well above average. Compared to other users, I’m more comfortable resolving my issue in chat.

— MB.khm experience .. chat is free of pronunciation issues.
No need to repeat myself.

====I have never preferred counselling by chat/email, but now I have come to realize a few key advantages.
( https://thesmartlocal.com/read/online-counselling-singapore/ lists many providers.)

— 👍 on-going .. I often need on-going support on a recurring topic. Ideally, there is one dedicated counsellor (like David of CignaEAP), but it’s usually “too good to be true”. I would accept different counsellers each time I call in. A written record of past discussions becomes crucial. Without it, I would have to spend 10 minutes on a backgrounder before discussing a new “item”.

I can present multiple bullet points more easily online than by phone.

When I have too much to “unload”, chat lets me ramble. Counsellor can take her time going through everything.

I tend to go on and on, so in a 60-min chat session, there’s more “data exchange” than in a verbal session.

— 👍 therapeutic blogg .. As stated in CignaEAP: introspective self-help, all counselling is ultimately self-help. My primary self-help is therapeutic blogging, so the chat/email content is far more integrated into it.
