Hi,
I think you asked about US street safety and crime rate. I forgot to mention the biggest threat I feel while living in US —
unrestricted posession of guns. I have never witnessed anyone using a gun. None of my colleagues or friends have told me their own
personal encounters.
However, someone told me that most American families own a gun, put up somewhere in their homes. Many keep a gun for self-defence.
To my dismay, young people, even teenagers, use firearms out of rage or revenge, often on impulse. Look at the frequent campus
shooting news stories. Some older people commit the same senseless killing.
Theft, scam, money-cheating, robbery, burglary, beating or sexual assault happen in every country, but gun shots are an American
phenomenon and far more dangerous than all of them combined. In term of human life, the worst 2 crimes are probably shooting and
traffic violations.
