personalized ads: no better than untargeted ads

sugg: Better search without logging in.

Sugg: prefer non-personalized ads. I would rather receive ads for Africa, rather than my city!

— Problem: I may be searching for something just once for an intern. The “System” could assume I need information on this thing.

If this thing is very specialized, with very few interested buyers, then System could be keen to seize everything marketing opportunity.

— Problem: I may be curious about some high-fat diet or penis treatment, and sent a few searches. The “System” could assume I’m interested and need more information.

— Problem: over a few months you searched online for a properties, and finally committed to one. Then the “System” keep sending you more rEstate opportunities.

— Problem: One particular CapitalOne ad or one Singapore trainer is very uncomfortable watching for me. If non-personalized, System would show that one ad only once a week, but with personalized, System shows me 3 times an hour, perhaps because this advertiser paid a lot to increase his page view.

In this case, /untargeted/ ads are much more acceptable than a /repugnant/ ad that’s actually relevant to my interest.
