[11] salary expectation when returning to SG

(Blog post. No need to reply.)

No evidence, but I feel it’s not straightforward to get a Singapore salary matching our US salary.

Right now, many big banks in SG have enough hiring budget to “match” NY/London candidates’ salary. I don’t know how long this situation will last. 2010 was a build-up period with plenty of budget. On Wall Street, already we have witnessed a decline in consulting rates, as banks grow confident about their long term manpower needs and switch to (cheaper) permanent hiring.

Again, no evidence but I feel there will continue to be a shortage of experienced trading developers in Singapore. One reason is, “talent” pool is small as Singapore is still far behind “Nylonkong” in trading. My hope now is that my trading experience on Wall Street can put me ahead of competition when returning to SG.

Must work hard while taking care of myself….
