On 25 Oct in Kranji wetland (after basketball training), for no apparent reason boy pushed meimei from behind.
Boy tried “downplay”, saying the push didn’t matter. I asked meimei “Did it matter to you?” and she said getting pushed was a nasty experience. After lengthy discussions, boy proposed[1] that each push like this would entail a 0.5D smartphone confiscation.
[1] I feel it’s very important to get boy to accept responsibility and accept his mistake. Some rules are unfair so as a student or a prisoner you learn to accept the injustice. Other rules are fair, so the quicker and more complete you understand and accept it, then earlier you can improve and get out of the bad situation.
— Note this penalty is for violence, more than aggressive behavior. This offense is among the most serious offenses.
When there is a fall like on 23 Oct, the penalty was 7D. When there’s injury, penalty may increase to 1M or “much longer” like a year, as a Cigna counsellor suggested.
No whiplash no fall no injury on 25 Oct, as I saw it up close.
Note in most cases, an unanounced push from behind will not injure anyone, but that’s because the victim is not in an unstable position. If the same push happens 10 times, perhaps once or twice there will be a fall.
When there’s a loss of balance, anything can happen. The chance of injury is unpredictible. We can’t assume luck will be on our side every time.
— For repeated offenses, penalty ought to increase.
— logistics of half-day
We will try to combine multiple half-day sentences, from various offenses. If there’s a “stub” sentence like 0.5 in 3.5, then we (mom, dad, boy) will decide based on the then circumstances.
We also agreed to combine the 7D sentence and various other penalties into one continuous sentence. Exactly when to start it is subject to discussion.
