I found out long ago that I long for steeper learning curve i.e. high gradient. I didn’t want to feel stagnant in Java.

I took bold actions to avoid stagnation, but often at a price • UChicago program –
• poor retention poor absorption poor internalization poor intuition • frustration – Uchicago, Quartz
* Quartz – not learning much domain knowledge
• 3 steps forward, 2 steps back
• not moving upward but sideways, mostly in terms of salary. • resource contention
• less time for family
• less time for exercise
• higher stress
• below-expectation performance
• hit on self-esteem
