• eg: in a spreadsheet, I give percentage rating. One item is uncertain. Sometimes I give it 30%, other times 40%, so I use the notation

20->30-50 meaning .. a range of 20 to 50, but currently estimated at 30

• eg: in a tight spreadsheet, I give 1-5 rating. All the numbers line up left-justified, so I use the notation

4<5 meaning .. used to be 5 but now rated 4

• eg: if more space is available, i also use the “comment” notation
