I am not abstaining from all calorie-dense foods. I let myself enjoy ice cream, my peanuts and other calorie-dense foods, provided they are truly satisfying to me. It’s plain stupid to incur high calorie cost without satisfaction , but we all do that stupid thing.
You would question who the hell would eat fattening yet not-extremely-satisfying foods but, like I said in ## satisfying@low-cal reality often defies intuition. Our intuition about calorie density is plain naive.
Taste is personal, so here is the list for my taste bud, roughly ranked by surprise:
- buns, cakes and cookies with sugar frost
- most cream cake
- butter cookies and most other cookies
- egg yolk
- Most nuts — including cashew, almonds … are NOT more tasty than my unshelled peanuts !
- fried prawns (often with cream dip) in social events or Ichiban…
- cheap cream crackers — lemon cream, cheese cream, peanut butter cream
- big visible fat in cooked beef, pork, chicken, Beijing duck
- mint and green-tea flavor ice cream and cakes
- most social foods — esp. coated-fried or cheesy
- white creams in salads in Ichiban etc
- [sg] buns with cheap cream filling
- [sg] white sour creams on coated-fried food
- olive oil — see separate blog olive oil
- chicken skin, esp. fried
- [sg] fried fish ball
- [sg] Malay food with lots of coconut milk
- Most sugary drinks and alcohol
- Standard-fixture oily salted peanut offered in every China restaurant.
